The Maroon Tigers extended their winning streak to three with a 31-7 win over the Lane College Dragons on Saturday, Oct. 18, at B.T. Harvey Stadium.

Junior quarterback Miles Scott had himself a day through the air, throwing for 313 yards and three touchdowns. The wealth was spread throughout the offense, as nine different receivers caught passes. Tight end Maurice Veney recorded three receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown, while Eric Stephens led the way with five catches for 87 yards and a score.

On the defensive side, the Maroon Tigers were stout. They shut out Lane College in the second half and held the Dragons to zero third-down conversions for the game. Linebackers Kaiden Lee and Sean Johnson each recorded an interception, while Johnson also forced a fumble alongside lineman Luca Chuecos.

The win marked a couple of milestones for the program. Not only was it the first Homecoming victory for the Maroon Tigers since 2019, but it was also the first for head coach Terance Mathis during his tenure. It was Morehouse’s fourth straight win over Lane College dating back to 2016.

Looking ahead, Morehouse hopes to keep the momentum rolling Saturday as they travel to Savannah to take on Savannah State University at Theodore A. Wright Stadium at 3 p.m. Not only can the Maroon Tigers play spoiler to Savannah State’s Homecoming, but a win would also mark their first-ever victory against the Tigers.
