Seven Mr. Sophomore contestants begin their journey for the crown

The Spelman class of 2028 hosted its Mr. Sophomore pageant reveal, unveiling seven Morehouse College sophomores who introduced themselves to the student body. The contestants strutted down the Spelman College Amphitheater walkway wearing polished white suits with golden detailed pieces, ready to take home the title.  

The men of Morehouse vying for the title are Chaz Austin, Noah Blandin, Donovan Hood, Katrell Huff, Domiyon Jones, Braylen Scott and David Whittington. The contestants were selected weeks ago in a process led by Sophomore Class Council President Cambel Cadien.

“The journey to this point has been amazing,” Cadien said. “It began with the informational, and we had so many strong applicants. We were actually only supposed to have six candidates, but the field was so strong that we ended up with seven. They have been a joy to work with, and despite our early tough decisions, the council has no regrets.”

On Friday afternoon, the reveal served as the official introduction of the 2025-26 Mr. Sophomore contestants, each ready to compete for the crown that celebrates leadership, service and school spirit amongst the sophomore class. The crowd buzzed with energy as music played, friends cheered, and the contestants unveiled themselves from their shades and made grand entrances one by one.  

Jarrett Hall, a Morehouse Sophomore, equally shared support for his friends with loud cheers and applause. 

“I’m ready to see all my brothers shine well today,” Jarrett said. “And the crowd roared as the contestants were unveiled.” 

The Mr. Sophomore Pageant is not only a competition but  a celebration of leadership, confidence and community engagement. Contestants are evaluated by presence and talent but also are examined on their campus involvement and commitment to representing Spelman’s values. The 

The reveal marks the beginning of an exciting journey leading up to the official pageant night, where one contestant will be graced with the title of Mr. Sophomore. Until then, anticipation will build as the campus rallies behind their favorite contestants, sharing support across social media and in daily campus life.
