On Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, Grammy Award–winning recording artist and Atlanta native Summer Walker released her fourth studio album, Finally Over It, a long-awaited project that doesn’t disappoint. It upholds her reputation for strong songwriting, production and collaboration while showcasing her growth as she stays rooted in R&B yet expands into a wider musical palette.

This album showcases Walker’s musical diversity. While it’s rooted in modern trap soul and ’90s R&B, she also pulls from pop and singer-songwriter soundscapes. That shift comes through in tracks like “Situationship,” “FMT” and “Allegedly,” which lean acoustic and blur the boundaries of traditional R&B. This musical expansion suggests Walker may be positioning herself to cross over into the world of mainstream pop.

While exploring new sounds, Walker stays a student of R&B’s tradition, shown through her sharp use of samples. Her interpolation of Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” on “Baby” nods to one of the genre’s defining ballads, while her reference to Beyoncé’s “Yes” on “No” subtly honors the women who shaped early-2000s R&B. These choices show her grasp of the genre’s evolution and her place within it.

The album also boasts a stacked lineup of features. Across its 18 tracks, 13 guest appearances include Brent Faiyaz, Mariah the Scientist, Bryson Tiller, GloRilla, Anderson .Paak and more.

Her growth as an artist also shows in the album’s production, especially in the arrangements. One thing that sets this project apart is its sense of grandeur. Walker blends lush strings with refined, layered harmonies that showcase her range and push her voice as an instrument.

Finally Over It is more than a continuation of Walker’s artistry, it’s a confident evolution. It reveals an artist grounded in her roots, aware of her place in R&B today, and unafraid to explore where her sound may take her next.
