On the weekend of Nov. 18th & 19th, Morehouse Athletics will be hosting the HBCU All-Stars Challenge, ATL Has Something to Say All-Star Challenge, at Forbes Arena. Founder and CEO of HBCU All Stars LLC, Travis Williams and COO, April Taylor put this historic event together. This is the first HBCU All-Star Challenge of its kind and the first to be held at Morehouse College.

HBCU All-Stars LLC is a black-owned sports marketing, events, and media company focused on Advocating, Educating, Exposing, Mentoring, & Investing in Hard-working, Talented, Ambitious Student-Athletes & Brilliant Coaches at Our Distinguished Historical Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs). Earlier this year, Williams and Taylor planned the first ever HBCU All Stars game during the NCAA Final Four men’s basketball national championship tournament in New Orleans.

The tournament this weekend, will feature HBCUs from Division 1 and Division 2.

“These Division 1 teams had an opportunity to go play elsewhere to earn a bigger pay day than here,” Associate Athletic Director Phillip Wallace Jr. said. “So, it shows the importance of HBCU’s watching out for other HBCU’s no matter the level.”

All HBCU sports conferences will be in attendance including; Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC).

Notable teams coming to play are longtime athletics rival Tuskegee University, Alabama A&M University featuring former Maroon Tigers’, Xavier Brewer and Olisa Blaise Akonobi, and the reigning back to back MEAC Champions Norfolk State University.

Morehouse Chief of Police, Charles Prescott talked about the safety measures for the historic event. “Our main goal is to make sure it’s a safe event, and a fun event,” Prescott said.
