The Maroon Tigers Head to Jacksonville to Face Edward Waters
By Clifton Dutton
The Morehouse College Maroon Tigers will be facing off against the Edward Waters University Tigers. This matchup will be on Feb. 4 at 3:00 p.m. ET. in Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex.
The Maroon Tigers stand at 11-8 and the Edward Waters’ squad is having a rough year with a 4-16 record. In addition, the Maroon Tigers are 8-6 in their conference while Edward Waters is 3-12.
The Maroon Tigers are going into the match on a four-game win streak, and EWU is currently on a two-game losing streak. The Maroon Tigers are looking to get a higher seed in the playoffs while Edward Waters looks to end their losing streak.
The Maroon Tigers are currently being coached by their assistant, Harold Clay. He currently is undefeated as Head Coach with a 4-0 record. Clay is also a Morehouse grad and his calm and collected nature has rubbed off on the team.
The Edward Waters Tigers are also being coached by first time interim coach, Howard White Jr. He has started the season off slow, but is still looking to get a win that can see his team back on a positive track.
The Tigers key players for this matchup will be center, Larry Kuimi, and guard, Tavares Oliver. Interestingly, Tavares is a Morehouse transfer and has found himself a better fit as he plays a bigger role for EWU.
The Maroon Tigers will be getting their contributions from forward Kerry Richardson and guard Ibn Williams. Both of these players have played big roles in the absence of the Stewart twins and will be looking to carry the load on this road game.
After this matchup, these teams will be colliding again in just four days at Morehouse College in Forbes Arena.
