College football is back in action around the country. In week one the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers will face the Virginia Union University Panthers in the highly touted Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic. The game will be played in Canton, Ohio at the NFL’s Pro Hall of Fame. This game marks the first of four classics on the Morehouse football schedule this season.
“Now in its fourth year, the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic quickly is growing into a premier showcase for the excellence of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Northeast Ohio is thrilled to host the administration and staff, students and alumni of these two great institutions,” said Adrian Allison, Chief Relationship Officer at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
As well as being the first classic game on the schedule, The Maroon Tigers will play seven games on national TV. This game also marks the first of a six-game road stretch for the Maroon Tigers, who play seven road games in total this season.
“We play seven games on national TV, there’s no hiding for the Maroon Tigers.” Coach Gerard Wilcher said.
This is the second time that the Maroon Tigers have played in the BCF-HOF Classic. Morehouse’s first appearance was in the inaugural game back in 2019. The Maroon Tigers will look to have a better outcome this go-round as they lost the first match 30-35 to Alabama A&M.
Fans can watch the game at 3:00pm EST, Sunday Sep. 4, on NFL Network.
