The Atlanta University center (AUC) Agency held their annual homecoming fashion show on Thursday in Forbes Arena. With months of preparation, the AUC Agency produced a groundbreaking decades- themed show that satisfied the audience’s anticipation.

The arena flooded with friends and family of the show participants, along with a bulk of the student body. The inclusive nature of the show catered to all demographics, as all of the scenes exuded fashion looks and music from a range of decades. With four scenes in the show, each one intricately showcased styles that cater to Black culture.

“My favorite part about the fashion show in general is the ability for black people to show their uniqueness in all of the different fashion styles in different eras,” AUC Agency model Madison James said.

The crowd’s excitement for the fashion show was reflected through cheering and engagement. During the intermission, a small handful of the attendees got the opportunity to walk the runway on stage and model their own outfits.

Although the show is an annual occasion, the concept of this one differed from past fashion shows. Previously, there were video scenes between the walking scenes. However, the creative direction and production this year created a short film coinciding with the theme of the fashion show.

“The short film was something that the creative directors wrote and scripted. We shot it over fall break, and it’s something we’ve been editing for almost three weeks so I’m excited to see that come to life,” AUC Agency media coordinator and director Miles Colbert said.

Furthermore, the AUC Agency utilized other outside talents such as dancing and rollerskating throughout the scenes to diversify the show as much as possible.

“We’re very intentional with everything we do, we always put a lot into everything that goes into this. The one decade that I’m really feeling is oddly enough the ‘90s and I’m just really excited to see what that scene has planned,” AUC Agency secretary Kennedy Hoyt said.
