Morehouse College’s own Isaiah “Zai Steppa” Evans ’27 has officially been named HBCU Buzz’s Top HBCU Host of 2025, bringing national recognition to himself, Morehouse and the Atlanta University Center (AUC).
Evans, a rising junior marketing major from Kansas City, Mo, has become a household name throughout the AUC. He showcased his authenticity as the emcee behind some of Morehouse’s most iconic events including Hump Wednesday and the Springfest concert.
“The love and sense of community that HBCUs have to offer is unmatched,” Evans said. “Hosting allows me to bring all of the assets of an HBCU together for an unforgettable time.”
The title grants increased recognition for the Campus Alliance of Student Activities (CASA). As special events chair, Evans has shaped student life by booking celebrity guests such as Zeddy Will and YK Niece fresh off their own viral songs and even producing the fifth most popular homecoming of 2024 according to BET. He, along with the rest of CASA, has brought campus life to a global stage.
Evans credits the AUC’s outpour of love and support for his win.
“The AUC sticks together in all things that we do, supporting each other not only on campus but on a national level,” he said.
Outside of hosting, Evans is a scholar and a student leader. He maintains a 3.7 GPA and has studied abroad in Africa. Evans also served as a new student orientation leader and recently became a member of the Alpha Rho chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., further demonstrating his leadership qualifications.
Evans said he plans to continue pursuing entertainment through hosting, event planning, YouTube and live hosting, while keeping his academic excellence a priority.
With this win, the AUC community celebrates Evans and what is to come for the new school year. For CASA, it is a boost of momentum heading into a new academic year. For Morehouse, it is another point of pride. And for Evans, the future is bright.
