The air was thick with excitement and nostalgia on Tuesday night as SpelHouse Homecoming 2025 hosted its highly anticipated Neo Soul Concert, headlined Ari Lennox. The event, sponsored by Design Essentials, drew hundreds of students, alumni, and fans from across the Atlanta University Center (AUC), all ready for a night of smooth vocals, good vibes, and celebration.

From the moment Ari stepped on stage, her vibrant performance captivated the audience with every note. Her setlist included fan favorites such as BMO, New Apartment and Pressure. Each met with cheers, sing-alongs, and swaying lights from the crowd. Ari’s performance reminded everyone why she’s considered one of the defining voices of modern soul — unapologetically real, deeply emotional, and full of warmth.

Beyond the music, the concert also gave attendees a little something extra. As part of the night’s sponsorship, Design Essentials provided free hair care products to students, allowing fans to experience the same luxury and self-care the brand is known for. Lines formed quickly as students picked up gift bags featuring some of the company’s most popular items, adding a touch of glam to an already unforgettable evening.

The stage also shined a spotlight on AUC student talent, with performances from rising artists including Dana Karynn, a sophomore at Spelman College. Her soulful voice and authenticity lit up the stage. For Dana, the experience was more than just another show — it was a milestone.

“Performing at the Neo Soul concert was such an incredible experience,” Dana shared. “Working with a professional production team and stepping into the spotlight as myself, not part of a group, was both empowering and unforgettable.”

She reflected on how moments like this reaffirm her passion for music and faith.

“Singing is when I feel most connected to God,” she said. “It lets me share the gift he’s given me, connect with people on a soul level, and spread joy through my voice. The stage has always felt like home.”

As the lights dimmed and Ari Lennox closed out her set, the crowd’s cheers filled the venue. A mix of pride, joy, and gratitude for a night that perfectly captured the essence of SpelHouse Homecoming: Black excellence, community, and soul.

The 2025 Neo Soul Concert wasn’t just a show; it was a testament to the power of music to connect, uplift, and inspire — from the stars on stage to the students in the crowd.
