The Morehouse Maroon Tigers closed the regular season on a high note on Feb. 26, defeating the Spring Hill Badgers 82–72 at Forbes Arena to claim the outright Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.

Morehouse showcased its offensive balance and efficiency throughout the night. The Tigers shot over 50 percent from the field and knocked down timely perimeter shots to keep Spring Hill at bay. Josiah Lawson led all scorers with 24 points, while the Tigers placed five players in double figures. In the second half, Morehouse elevated their defensive and capitilized on transition opportunities late. At the free-throw line, the Maroon Tigers remained composed, converting key attempts down the stretch to preserve their lead.

The win was a fitting conclusion to an impressive regular season under head coach Larry Dixon. In his first season leading the program, Dixon guided Morehouse to a 19–9 overall record and a dominant 19–5 mark in SIAC play. The Tigers were one of the conference’s most consistent teams all season, combining disciplined defense with an unselfish offensive approach that made them difficult to scout and harder to stop.

Following the game, Coach Dixon emphasized the mindset his team will carry into postseason play.

“We’re excited to be able to continue to compete,” Dixon said. “We understand that anytime you get into a tournament, it’s going to be hard. With knowing that we have to be able to continue to fight, and get better brick by brick. We’ll be ready and we hope that our fans can come join us and support.”

Throughout the season, Morehouse established itself as a resilient and well-prepared group, winning key road games, defending home court and responding well after losses. The Tigers’ ability to rely on multiple scoring options and maintain defensive intensity has been a defining factor in their rise to the top of the SIAC East.

Now, the focus shifts to the SIAC Tournament, where the top-seeded Maroon Tigers will open postseason play against the Edward Waters Tigers on March 4. With momentum, confidence and a championship mentality built over the course of the regular season, Morehouse enters tournament play aiming to turn a successful year into a conference title run.
