As their time in college comes to an end, the seniors on the Morehouse Men’s Basketball Team had a night for the ages!

In several interviews with The Maroon Tiger, interim head coach Harold Clay has expressed his frustration with the team starting games poorly. While that was a common theme this season, the team could always rely on a boost from the Stewart twins. Former Clark Atlanta Panthers, Andrew, and Elijah Stewart would often provide the offense with timely- and contested three-pointers and flashy assists.

These Chicago natives never shied away from showing love to their teammates throughout their teammates. Andrew found Ibn Williams in the corner for the game-winning shot despite struggling throughout the game.

“We have trust in all our teammates…” he said following Williams’ game-winning shot on Monday.

While the Stewart Twins often gain a bulk of the notoriety on campus, a senior forward not to be overlooked is Kerry Richardson.

When the Twins were sidelined due to injury, Richardson stepped up tremendously in their absence to keep the team afloat. He led the team in scoring this season with 15.9 points per game and added a consistent 6.9 rebounds per game.

Seniors Kerry Richardson and Elijah Stewart led the team in scoring this season with 19 points and 15 points, respectively. Richardson has been a spark for the team all season, especially given the untimely absence of the Stewart twins due to injury.

Last season, these young men had to turn their season around with a team-record 18-game winning streak- en route to being the top seed in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). The Maroon Tigers did the same this season, flipping the script with an eight-game winning streak- including impressive victories over Savannah State University and rival Clark Atlanta University. During their magical run, the former Islander had a streak of games where he scored 20 or more against Albany State, Fort Valley, and Edward Waters Universities.

While Christian Lamar’s stats may not stand out offensively, his impact on the defensive end is immeasurable. Lamar had two consecutive games this season where he came up with five steals. The senior forward was beyond excited to end his time in Forbes Arena exactly as it did.

“There’s no better feeling… we were in a hole at the beginning of the season, there’s no better feeling than what we’re feeling right now,” Lamar said.

The Maroon Tigers will be the #1 seed again for the postseason due to an eligibility conflict at Benedict College.

Win, lose, or draw, this team has had another tremendous regular season. Despite the adversity of injuries and health scares, this is a year the seniors on this team will never forget.
