This Wednesday, actor-producer Aldis Hodge made an appearance at the Ray Charles Performing Arts Center for a screening of his upcoming Amazon Prime Series “Cross”. The screening was hosted by Amazon Prime and HBCU Buzz.

After the screening, there was a Q-and-A session for attendants at the event.

“Cross” is an upcoming adaptation of the novel series “Alex Cross”. The story follows Alex Cross (played by Hodge), a detective and forensic psychologist who must dive into the minds of America’s most dangerous killers while defending his family from the criminal underworld. This will be the fourth adaptation of the breakthrough novel series.

During the Q-and-A, Hodge spoke on the importance of making mistakes and having a supportive community. He also gave a shout-out to child actor Caleb Avery who was in the audience.

“Along the road, mistakes are necessary to the recipe for however you define success,” Hodge said. “Everybody who’s ever succeeded in a major way has made major mistakes.”

A testament to his persistence, Avery originally had auditioned for the role of Alex Cross’ son in the series. After he introduced himself to Hodge on stage, Hodge alluded to a potential collaboration with Avery if the show got a second season.

“That kid is going places,” Morehouse sophomore Justin Bridges said. “It’s really awesome to see a future star before they shine.”

The first episode of “Cross” will premiere on Nov. 14 on Amazon Prime.
