A new chapter may be on the horizon for Morehouse’s kinesiology and business departments. Currently, the business department focuses heavily on the Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing fields. The Kinesiology department focuses on areas related to sports studies, physical education, wellness, nutrition, and sports-related activity.

Neither of these departments dive into the different niches in the business world. More specifically, they do not provide insight or information for the business side of sports nor the potential connection/collaboration between the kinesiology and business departments.

The Morehouse Sports Business Association (MSBA) has just announced its official launch at the beginning of the 2023-2024 school. The announcement of this new organization shows a commitment to explore different business fields.

The founders and primary leadership behind the organization are all current Morehouse students: Andre Spivey, Devan Bell, and Anthony George II. All three of these students have expressed substantial interest in helping to facilitate the development communities of leaders and innovators.

According to MSBA’s official instagram, their goal is to give AUC students the tools that they need “to thrive in the dynamic world of sports business.”

“Our vision is to host panels, webinars, and more to allow our members to gain connections and opportunities within the sports industry,” George said.

“Through engaging workshops, inspiring guest speakers, and captivating industry events, we aim to deepen our members’ understanding of the intricacies and nuances of the sports business landscape,” Spivey added.

Many students have already shown interest in joining MSBA. The comments on the announcement post were primarily positive; many students expressed joy, gratitude, and overwhelming excitement.

MSBA will be an organization that is housed at Morehouse while accommodating all students within the AUC. The initial goal for the organization will be to elect inaugural members of their E-board.

According to their instagram, there are no set dates for E-board application or future programming; however, the necessary information will be unveiled on their instagram account.
