The Maroon Tigers were led by sophomore forward Cedric Taylor III with 19 points and six rebounds. Taylor also had three steals and a put back dunk in the beginning of the second half that got the crowd excited.

The Maroon Tigers defense played a big role in keeping the team in front all game. The Tigers were able to capitalize from turnovers as they scored 16 points off turnovers. The team ended with 19 forced turnovers and 10 steals.

“Defense is always important, especially when you can get big stops,” Coach Whittler said. “We were able to limit guys to one shot and not allow too many offensive rebounds”.

The Maroon Tigers out rebounded the Tigers 35-27, which allowed the Maroon Tigers to keep possession of the ball. The team also scored 18 second chance points with 11 offensive rebounds to show the advantage that was held in the paint.

The Maroon Tigers were also able to score 36 points in the paint thanks to good ball movement and effective plays to attack the paint.

“We wanted to get it inside early and often as we attempted that today,” Coach Whittler said. “We took advantage of the size we had today to help secure this victory.”

The Tigers were able to bring the game back to single digits towards the end of the game. However, the Maroon Tigers defense stayed strong until the end, playing clutch defense to close the game out.

As the Maroon Tigers move on to the next game, Coach Whittler is ready to go back to the lab to prepare for Thursday to continue to finish the season off strong.

“Every game for us is going to be tough coming down the stretch of this season, we will be working on our defense and ball movement,” Coach Whittler said.

The Maroon Tigers hope to continue to strive as they play home against Allen University on Thursday at 7 p.m. EST.
