Coming off a remarkable win in Montgomery last weekend, Morehouse kept their foot on the gas and defeated the Central State University Marauders at McPherson Memorial Stadium with a final score of 31-26.
On offense, Morehouse freshman running back Nicholas Woodford racked up 24 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown. Through the air, quarterback Miles Scott was able to find a plethora of his playmakers, including wide receiver Corey Pendergrass, who led the way with four receptions for 30 yards.
Despite a late push from the Marauders, the Maroon Tigers remained stout on defense. The front seven for Morehouse were able to make an impact all game as safety Tyler Davis and linebacker Zack Underwood both recorded nine total tackles. Underwood was also responsible for three TFLs and 1.5 sacks.
Historically, Morehouse has had Central State’s number. Heading into today’s matchup, the Maroon Tigers were undefeated against the Marauders with a record of 4-0. The Tigers record now sits at 2-4 on the season, and the victory marked their first back-to-back win since the 2021 season.
The Maroon Tigers will return to Atlanta for their Homecoming weekend as they look to keep the success rolling. They will face off against Lane College Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at B.T. Harvey Stadium.
